Venice airport lounge

Last visit: december 2025

My rating: 7/10

Airport: Venice Marco Polo (VCE), Airside

Access: Priority Pass, Dragon Pass, Lounge Key e Lounge Pass

The Marco Polo Lounge at Venice Airport is the only “generalist” lounge in the terminal and effectively serves as the reference point for premium and Priority Pass passengers departing from VCE.

The lounge is spacious and laid out across multiple areas; upon entering, one immediately notices, on the left-hand side, dedicated spaces for those who need to work or make phone calls. From an architectural and design perspective, the Marco Polo Lounge follows a functional yet well-considered approach. It is not a luxury space, but the overall balance is sound: restrained materials, contemporary furnishings, and a variety of seating options (armchairs, work tables, more informal areas) that allow the lounge to be used flexibly both for relaxation and for working before departure. Overall, the visual impact is more coherent and less “anonymous” than that of many Italian airport lounges, although the furnishings do show their age.

Space management appears well thought out. During my visit, despite high occupancy—which I assume is frequent given the lack of alternatives in the terminal—the feeling of overcrowding was, on average, less oppressive than in other lounges. The overall size of the lounge and its division into zones help to mitigate the “upgraded waiting room” effect.

The food offering is slightly above average, though not particularly exciting: simple and standardized, better suited to a snack than to a proper meal. There are cold snacks, baked goods, sandwiches, and a few hot items without any real culinary ambition, with a rotation that tends to be fairly predictable. Nothing truly memorable, but overall adequate for the lounge’s purpose; the quality is not outstanding, but at least there is a good degree of variety.

The beverage offering is solid: Italian wines, prosecco, beer, soft drinks, and coffee. One distinctive feature is that alcoholic drinks are served by a bartender (in my experience, this was a first—every other lounge I have visited offered self-service alcohol). On the one hand, this is a nice touch that suggests greater attention to guests; on the other hand, I found it inconvenient overall, as it creates an annoying queue. Even to get a bottle of water from the fridge I had to wait a few minutes; shortly afterwards, being in Venice, I felt it was only right to treat myself to a spritz, which again required a few minutes of waiting.

Another feature—entirely positive in this case—is that Venice Marco Polo Airport has chosen to eliminate public address announcements, limiting flight information to the screens. This is a characteristic of the airport as a whole, but it naturally extends to the lounge as well, and I absolutely love it.

Services are well aligned with expectations: stable Wi-Fi, several workstations, and power outlets that are generally more widespread and accessible than in many other Italian lounges.

Cleanliness and maintenance are overall good. The lounge manages to maintain a respectable standard even with high passenger volumes, and even during peak times I noticed staff being very proactive in keeping the space tidy, continuously clearing tables of meal remnants.

Venice airport lounge review: conclusions

Overall, the Marco Polo Lounge in Venice performs its role well: it is a functional, bright, reasonably comfortable, and visually pleasant lounge that represents a valid alternative to waiting at the gate and offers an experience that is generally superior to that of many Italian generalist airport lounges. It is not a lounge that leaves a lasting impression, but it is solid, reliable, and suitable for both short stops and slightly longer stays, provided one does not have high expectations in terms of gastronomy or exclusivity.

A useful and well-designed lounge that, in Venice, does its job better than many national counterparts.
